Coaching
Fiya Librarian Consulting coaches librarians using research-based methods, reviving library programming from a solely resource-based approach to a people-centered approach by empowering librarians to make connections with their patrons to meet the collective needs of the campus and the singular needs of individuals. Teacher and student-centered approaches guide the librarian’s vision and mission. Transformative action-based solutions positively change the library’s environment.
How it Works
PHASE 1
Spark
During the initial meeting, we'll discuss the answers of the pre-survey questionnaire. The questionnaire includes general campus information such as academic status and goals, student population, library goals, programming, collections data, greatest needs and accomplishments. The length of the meeting spans from 30-45 minutes.
PHASE 2
Ignite
In the second meeting, we'll discuss the newly created library S.M.A.R.T. goals and the necessary steps to take to complete the intended goals. Long-term goals may have smaller objectives to move the project forward. In goal setting, priority is given to aligning the campus vision and goals with the library’s programming.
PHASE 3
Stoke
The final meeting evaluates the progress toward the library’s goals and programming. It adds more fuel to areas that may be lacking, and it adds key components to the library vision, while removing embers that may need less prioritizing based on new findings. The collaborative process promotes professional reflection and growth in the decision making cycle. The final result leaves the improved program blazing and the librarian aglow.
